Unity is a non-denominational, God-centered church, founded near the end of the 19th century by Charles and Myrtle Fillmore in Kansas City, Missouri.   It is the largest of several New Thought churches founded about that time. Here at Unity of Greater Cleveland we lead God-centered lives, awakening to the Christ nature within ourselves and recognizing this same nature in all others.

We invite you to be a part of either 9:00 a.m. or 11:00 a.m. services on Sunday morning for warm, heartfelt prayer, song, meditations, and lessons taught by Reverend Joan M. Gattuso. [Click Here] to listen to a Sunday lesson.

Rev. Joan is our founding minister and the internationally acclaimed author of A Course in Love, A Course in Life, and the soon-to-be-released The Lotus Still Blooms. Her inspiring books, which sell worldwide, have been translated into twelve languages.

Unity of Greater Cleveland is visited by many guest speakers, including Wayne Dyer, Marianne Williamson, Robert Thurman, Jean Houston, John Maxwell Taylor, James Twyman, to mention a few.

We invite you to attend our life-changing church and decide if it is right for you.

Unity of Greater Cleveland's Mission Statement:
"To heal the past, release the future, and live fully in the present as we love, support and serve others in realizing God's abundance and love."

The Outreach Ministry was created as one means of fulfilling this mission. The Outreach Ministry is a way of taking service beyond the members and church family, out into the community. It's a way of demonstrating the belief Unity of Greater Cleveland holds that we are "all" the Child of God. As it states in one of Reverend Joan Gattuso's favorite songs, The Greatest Thing by Mark Pendergrass, "The greatest thing in all my life is loving you...The greatest thing in all my life is serving you." And as Reverend Joan said when speaking of the volunteers that support the ministry, "You forever fill my heart with joy and the knowing that in serving another we are indeed serving the Christ." The Outreach Ministry gives us the opportunity to be of service to the community.

There are six major projects facilitated by the Outreach Ministry.

   "Mr. Backpack"
Backpack Project - Every fall we find a school or youth organization with children that are disadvantaged and don't have the school supplies they need to be able to participate fully as students. Through donations from our congregation we fill this need and support many of the children in our community to help them get ahead in school.

Thanksgiving Project - This project is a way for us provide a nutritious Thanksgiving meal for those who are less fortunate in our community. Most of us take for granted that we have enough to eat...most of the people in the world do not. Providing a basic need, such as food, is a wonderful way to demonstrate our thankfulness for the blessings we have.

Christmas Project - The giving of gifts at Christmas has become rather commercialized over the years. However, the spiritual significance of gift giving is to demonstrate our awareness of the many gifts we, His children, have been given by God and to "Pay it Forward." What better way than to give a gift to a child that may otherwise go without.

Easter Baskets - The resurrection of Jesus was undoubtedly the greatest demonstration of the power of the Christ in all of history. Although this message is overlooked by many in the celebrating of Easter, when we give an Easter basket containing a note with this wonderful story we have the opportunity to bring this message to a child. It's a way of bringing awareness to those children who have not been told, and a reason for rejoicing in the Glory for those children who have.

"Kindness is the golden chain by which we are all bound together."
John Wolfgang Von Goethe

"Kindness is the light that dissolves all walls between souls, families, and nations."
Paramahansa Yogananda

Random Acts of Kindness - As people tap into their own generous human spirit and share kindness with one another, they discover for themselves the power of kindness to effect positive change. When kindness is expressed, healthy relationships are created, community connections are nourished, and people are inspired to pass kindness on.As people from different cultures and from all walks of life are joining to spread kindness, they are creating a powerful, synergistic action throughout the world. Please join us in bringing kindness and compassion to our local and global communities!
Complaint-Free World – Purple bracelets worn by our congregants and many others throughout the Greater Cleveland community indicate they are refraining from complaining about ANYTHING for a full month. Started by Unity Minister Will Bowen in Kansas City, this joyful program has spread around the world.

If you would like to be a part of the Outreach Ministry, please call or e-mail and let us know. The Outreach Ministry is a wonderful way to be of service to the church and the community. And as with all acts of loving service, you will be the who benefits the most.
